Hey, I’m Jazzmin Greathouse.

Pretty much, I substituted alcohol with painting.

Too much right off the bat?

Maybe.

Oh, well.

I got sober August 8, 2020 and a couple weeks later I got pregnant with twins.

They entered the world 15 weeks early and it was the scariest thing I’d ever been through in my life.

I painted and journaled throughout my pregnancy and my twins’ NICU stay.

It rekindled the joy I always got from it when I was younger.

And then I noticed how much time I’d spend outside looking for things to paint.

That brought me back to how much I used to love being outside and just being in awe of nature as a kid.

We’re in a screen addiction epidemic, frankly.

With my art, I hope to bring people inspiration to look up, go outside, and bring back the child-like sense of wonder we all used to have.

So many times, I’d be overwhelmed in that hospital with my babies and have to step out for a walk.

So many times, even now, we get caught up in all these stupid little worries.

Then we get some fresh air and things somehow feel like they’re going to be okay.

They are.

There’s hope and beauty all around us if we just look for it.

Artist Statement

I paint expressive oil and acrylic nature paintings with loose and bold brushstrokes for people who need reminders to look up, take a deep breath, and see all the wonder around them.
